Dr. He, M.D. & Ph.D., gained profound translational research experience in both academic and industrial settings before starting his family residency. He also spent 5 years teaching and mentoring medical students as a professor at LECOM. He recently completed his family medicine internship at LECOM Health Center from Pennsylvania and joined us as a PGY-2 resident. Dr. He's strong clinical experience and solid academic background will be a great plus to our program.

I didn’t choose medicine for the white coat—I chose it because I believe in being there for people when it counts. My path wasn’t linear. I’ve faced loss, failed big, learned bigger—but I never stopped showing up. That grit, shaped by my grandfather’s lessons in a humble garden, is what keeps me grounded today.

I worked with surgeons and specialists before residency, honed the craft of real-time documentation, and interacted with patients in ways textbooks cannot teach. During the pandemic, I also spent time helping underprivileged areas

Now I’m here, chasing growth, showing up fully, and bringing my whole self to the field. Let’s build, learn, and make an impact—one patient at a time.

Dr. Karon Miles Cayton is a licensed physician and nurse in the Philippines who immigrated to Hawaii with her family more than a decade ago. She obtained her medical degree from Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation in the Philippines. Prior to starting residency, she was a program coordinator for the Primary Care Clinic of Hawaii, assisting medical students and aspiring doctors through their internal medicine and family medicine rotations in the clinic's preceptorship program. During her spare time, she enjoys listening to music, crocheting, hiking, and watching true crime series.

Born and raised in Islamabad, Pakistan, I was drawn to medicine early on through observing the meaningful, trust-based relationships my grandparents cultivated with their patients at their clinic. This experience ignited my interest in primary care, which I deepened during medical school through public outreach initiatives in underserved communities. I’m now eager to begin this new chapter in family medicine and to grow both personally and professionally under the mentorship of this supportive faculty. In my free time, I enjoy kayaking, visiting dog parks, and playing Jenga with friends—activities I look forward to continuing in the vibrant outdoor environment of Los Angeles.

Born & raised in Minnesota, I found my footing in medicine after returning from college. Prior to medical school, I was mentored by a Physician in the Mayo system as his scribe. He saw my passion, as well as the strong ethical values for patient care, and encouraged me to start my medical school journey as soon as I could. This led me to UMHS. Throughout my medical school journey, I gained knowledge and wisdom for patient care from my amazing preceptors/mentors spanning the country from the North, to the South, and especially from my own neighborhood. During the past couple of years, I have taken hobbies in SCUBA, mechanical work on cars, waterskiing, Formula racing, dinosaurs and LEGO's.
